Hey,
the last weekend was Labor Day Weekend, which means that we had no school on Monday. Because of this we went down South to the property of my hostmom’s parents. In South Indiana is a lot of forest. The entire property was forest but a cabin where we slept in.
In the forest were trails for fourwheelers. It was awesome because we could drive the fourwheelers all the time and it is a lot of fun!
Unfortunately I got a cold there.

Hey,
the school I attend during my exchange year is Mooresville High School.
About 1000 students attend these school. On Mooresville’s website the wrote something about 4300 students, but I guess there are 4300 from kindergarten to high school.
The school’s locker are free. It needs some time till you get into the system how the locks work but if you get this it is easy.
Most of the students and teachers are really friendly and helpful. When I say that I am an exchange student most of them want to know where I am from, why did I come to the USA and all these questions.
This is my schedule for the first semester:
1st period – U.S. History
2nd period – Pre Calc
3rd period – Interpersonal Relationship
4th period – Weight Lifting
5th period – Study Hall
6th period – Psychology
7th period – English II
After my regular schedule I have football practice from 3 to 5 or 6. On Monday and Friday night are the games. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday we have practice.

Hey,
I stayed in New York for three days it was just awesome. The whole orientation there, the people, the hotel, just everything!
We got a sightseeing tour with a pretty cool tour guide and he talked about skyscrapers in NYC, about the history of the cit, about central park and other stuff like this
I wrote the German article when I was waiting at the airport, because I waited there about 6 hours
Sorry for this short article, but at the moment I am so busy

Hey,
now I write somethin about my flight and furthermore I want to introduce you to Indiana, the state where I am going to live!
Departure
I fly tomorrow from Dresden to Frankfurt at 7.20 a.m. There I just have 1,5h till the departure of my plane to New York. It departs at 10.50 and arrives 8 hours and 20 minutes later at the John F. Kennedy airport
I will be in New York about 3 days. I am going to write about when I have enought time for.
Additional information
The next year I am going to live in Indiana:

As you can see on the map, it is a state in the Midwest. So there is time difference of 6 hours. Because of lots of plains there is a big agricultural business.
I will live near Indianapolis in the metropolitan area. In Germany Indianapolis is famous for the motor races. The school I attend is in another suburb called Mooresville but about school and my first days I am going to write when I have enougt time!
I will write the next time when I have the opportunity and enought time.
I wish every student a successful year!
Talk to you soon,
Orell
Hey,
I didn’t write a lot about my exchange year but I am going to do this now! I am going to tell you something about the agency and about the things, which happened from the application to departure.
Agency
My agency is called AIFS. This agency cares about all students who wants to go to a foreign country. I decided for AIFS because of the trustable information material and on the internet you can read a lot of good arguments for this agency.
Things to do – step by step!
Last spring I already applied for this exchange year and a short while after this I was invited to an interview by AIFS. There the check if I really want to the USA. There were thing like hobbies, interests and such things important. Some days later I got all documents from a medical certification to lots of personal forms. Furthermore I write a mail to the hostfamily. My parents also wrote a mail. Of course everything have to put in in English!
After fill al the forms I waited a long time till getting the next mail from AIFS. From the beginning of 2010 AIFS sent some information mails which with they already prepared the students for the year abroad. At the end of april we got a mail from AIFS with all the documents for the visa application. To fill all the forms was a lot to do but finally we did it and appointed a time for an interview at the U.S. embassy. There I have been waiting for a long time and then a consular officer called for me. Some days later the visa arrived at the mail box
Early in June there was preparation seminar by AIFS in Leipzig. There were 4 returnees present and they spoke about their experiences. This was really interesting for me.
Host family
On 7-27-2010 I read the e-mail that there was found host family for me
I got an e-mail from AIFS but first I read the e-mail of the host family and already get happy and excited.
The family lives in Indiana, next to Indianapolis. They are very nice! I am going to fly on 8-12-2010 but more I don’t know at the moment.
Conclusion
Until now everything is ok but of course did I have some thoughts because of not getting a host family but I wasn’t really worried about it at any moment.
Furthermore I hope I can document my exchange year in this blog but I don’t know if I will have enough time for this and if it is OK for the family.
There will be another article in the next days!

Sorry, this entry is only available in Deutsch.
Hey,
on Friday all students in Saxony got their result papers for this semester and so we will have holidays the next 6 weeks. I hope the weather will be good.
School days begin in 6 weeks like every year but for me their will perhaps be something else, because I apply for an exchange year in the USA.
Almost all is clear, but the most important of all wasn’t clear at the moment. I do not have a hostfamily, but this is normal, because the Americans are very spontaneus. Because of this I don’t know where I will go and which High-School I will attend
I hope I will have the opportunity to continue this blog during my exchange years and I can report from my daily life in the USA.
